There’s nothing quite like exploring a new country on two wheels!

Travelling with a bike from Scotland to Northern Ireland gives you so much freedom to explore the country and beyond.

Whether you’re keen to explore the cultural metropolis of Belfast on your bike, or you want to take advantage of the miles of quiet country roads, awe-inspiring coastline, forest trails, and riverside routes of Mid and East Antrim, don’t miss out on a cycling trip around Northern Ireland – book your next visit today.

If you’re bringing your bikes with a car, all you need to remember is to include any attached racks or boxes in the height and length of your vehicle when making your booking.

Make sure you arrive 30 minutes before departure so you’ve got plenty of time, as the ferry terminal can get busy.

You should check that everything is securely fastened before boarding the ferry, so nothing gets damaged in the crossing – the sea might be rough!

You may want to consider buying a bicycle rack that attaches to the back of your vehicle, making it easier to check everything is safe and secure.

If you are travelling without a vehicle you must board the ferry at the same time as regular foot passengers, arriving at the Port of Cairnryan 45 minutes before the ship is scheduled to depart.

Once onboard, please ensure that your bike is safely stowed away below deck.

Once everything is secure you may follow the vehicles up the ramp on foot.

Top tip: bicycles count as vehicles when making a booking, so make sure you’ve sorted this out in advance before boarding. Only one bicycle is allowed per booking.
