Discover Limerick City

The third largest city in Ireland, Limerick is a true gem of the Munster province. Bisected by the River Shannon, and with architecture ranging from Georgian townhouses to medieval ruins, this city has something for everyone. Start your travels by visiting the city's best loved buildings, with St John's Cathedral— which features the tallest spire in the country — a great starting point. The historic heart of the city can be found on King's Island, which hosts both King John’s Castle and St Mary’s Cathedral and offers some great views in all directions.

If you're feeling a bit peckish, the old Milk Market is full of artisan food stalls and has been serving up fresh local food since 1852, while there are some incredible museums for the culture vultures too. The Limerick City Gallery of Art showcases Irish artists from the 18th century onwards, while there is an extensive collection of art and antiques at the Hunt Museum. To wind down, take a walk around the gorgeous People's Park or chat with locals in the White House, the city's oldest pub.
